Yale will remove the existing natural turf and put in the new turf and a chain-link fence. The university is putting in synthetic turf at the DeWitt Family Field and the Johnson Field off Central and Derby avenues in Westville in order to upgrade the playing surface for women’s softball. The renovation is expected to start in early 2018 and be completed by June 2019.Ī second Yale project on the City Plan agenda also was approved in record time. To deal with stormwater management issues, Yale will construct three bioswales within the city’s right-of-way adjacent to the property. The proposed project is an interior-only renovation with no changes proposed to the site at the corner of York and George streets. ![]() Mayes said the new arrangement will be much more patient-centered. The additional space in the three-story, 119,000-square-foot building will be used for laboratory space by the medical school. Mayes said the new location will be easier for parents and children with services, clinical labs and support offices all in one location. The center is now spread over three buildings: 230 South Frontage Road, 100 York St. “We are pushing for space,” Mayes told the City Plan Commission Wednesday night, which approved the new use of the downtown building near the Yale Medical School. Mayes, director of the the center, said it grew 10 percent last year, and that growth is expected to continue.
